Gym Watch ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") is an on-device strength-training tracker for Wear OS smartwatches, operated by an independent developer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app does and does not handle, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
By default, Gym Watch does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. No account is required, and without signing in the app sends no data off your watch.
To count reps and detect sets, the app reads your watch's motion sensors — the accelerometer, gyroscope, and rotation-vector sensors — and, where available, body sensors such as heart rate. This sensor data is processed entirely on your watch in real time to recognize the movement of your workout. It is never sent to us or to any third party, whether or not you sign in.
Your workouts — including detected sets, rep counts, rest intervals, exercise labels you assign, and the recorded sensor samples for a session — are saved in the app's private storage on your watch. This data is used to show your workout history and to improve the app's exercise recognition for you, and is removed when you uninstall the app.
The app offers an optional Google sign-in (Settings → Account) to back up your workout history and see it on your other watches. If — and only if — you choose to sign in, the following is collected and stored in our database (Google Firebase):
That is the complete list. Raw sensor recordings, heart-rate data, and anything else on the watch are not uploaded. Sign-in uses your watch's Google account picker — the app never sees or handles your password.

All of these permissions are used solely to run the workout tracker and, if you opt in, its backup feature. None of them are used to collect data for advertising or any other purpose.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. If you use the optional sign-in, your account identifiers and workout summaries are stored with Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which acts as a service provider processing the data on our behalf to provide the backup & sync feature. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Firebase privacy documentation. No data is shared with advertisers or analytics providers.
By default your data never leaves your watch, where it is protected by the security of your device and the operating system's app-storage sandbox. If you opt into backup & sync, your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and stored in Google Firebase, protected by per-user access rules so that only your signed-in account can read or write your data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit what is uploaded to the minimum needed for the feature.
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children; sign-in is optional and uses the Google account already on the watch.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version on this page. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
