VIBRATE, for the tap you feel when the shortcut fires.Flashpay ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") is a flashlight and shortcut app for Wear OS smartwatches, operated by an independent developer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app does and does not handle, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
Flashpay does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. There is no account, and the app has no internet permission, so it cannot send data off your watch. Specifically:
The app saves your preferences so the light comes back the way you left it: the flashlight colour (white or red), the brightness step, the auto-off timer length, and the time of your most recent button press — which is what lets a quick second press switch between the flashlight and your wallet. These are held in the app's private storage on your watch, are never transmitted, and are removed when you uninstall the app.
When you press the button, Flashpay takes a single reading from your watch's ambient light sensor to decide whether you are in the dark (open the flashlight) or in daylight (open your wallet app). The reading is used in that instant and then discarded. It is never written to storage, never combined with anything else, and never leaves the watch. The app does not monitor the sensor continuously and stops listening as soon as it has its one value.
| Permission | Why the app uses it |
|---|---|
VIBRATE | Produce the short haptic tap that confirms the shortcut fired, and the tap you feel when you touch a flashlight control. |
That is the complete list. The ambient light sensor described above is not a permission-protected sensor on Wear OS and requires no permission grant. The app has no internet permission, posts no notifications, does not start at boot, and never runs in the background.
Flashpay can ask Android to open Google Wallet, in exactly the same way that tapping the Wallet icon on your watch would. That is the entire interaction. Flashpay does not process payments, does not store or read your cards, passes no information to Wallet, and receives nothing back from it. Anything you do once Wallet is open is governed by Google's privacy policy, not this one.
Flashpay is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, because the app does not collect or receive any. No data is shared with advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third party.
The only stored data is the handful of settings described above, which live on your watch until you change them or uninstall the app, at which point they are removed.
Because no data ever leaves your watch, it is protected by the security of your device and the operating system's app-storage sandbox. Keeping data on-device and off any network removes the risks that come with transmitting or storing it elsewhere.
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version on this page. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
