Charge Bench ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") is a charging benchmark for Wear OS smartwatches, operated by an independent developer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app does and does not handle, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
The app is standalone: it runs entirely on the watch, has no phone companion, and exchanges no data with any other app or device.
Charge Bench does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. There is no account, and the app has no internet permission, so it cannot send data off your watch. Specifically:
While your watch is on a charger, the app records readings taken from the watch's own battery: charge percentage, electric current, voltage, battery temperature, the power source type, and the time of each reading. From those it computes charging speed in watts. These are measurements of a battery, not of you.
Each charge session is written as a file in the app's private storage on your watch. Nothing is transmitted. Everything is deleted when you uninstall the app, and individual sessions can be deleted from within the app at any time.
You can name the chargers you want to compare — "bedside dock", "the one from the car" — so a session can be attributed to one of them. These names are whatever you choose to type or dictate, are held in the app's private storage on your watch, are never transmitted, and are removed when you uninstall the app. Please do not enter personal information as a charger name; the app has no use for it.
The app keeps a rolling technical log of its own decisions — when a session started, why one ended, whether a reading was available — capped in size so it cannot grow without limit. It exists so that a problem can be diagnosed, contains the same battery measurements described above and no personal information, and is never sent anywhere. Diagnostics → Export all data gathers your sessions and this log into a single file on the watch; that file goes nowhere unless you copy it off the watch yourself and choose who to send it to.

REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS | Optional, and you are asked. Granting it lets the recording start by itself when you set the watch down on a charger, so an unattended charge — overnight, for example — is measured without you opening the app first. Declining it costs you no feature: recordings you start from the app work exactly the same. |
That is the complete list. In particular the app requests no internet permission, no location, no body sensors, no microphone, no camera, no contacts, and no access to your files.
Naming a charger opens the input method that is already installed on your watch — its keyboard, its handwriting or its voice dictation. That software belongs to your watch's manufacturer or to Google, not to us, and anything it does with what you type or say is governed by its own privacy policy. Charge Bench receives only the finished text and stores it on the watch.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, because the app does not collect or receive any. No data is shared with advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third party. The app contains no advertising.
Your sessions, charger names and diagnostic log live on your watch until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app, at which point they are removed with it. Because device backup is switched off for this app, no copy is kept in your Google account, and none is restored to a new watch.
Because no data ever leaves your watch, it is protected by the security of your device and the operating system's app-storage sandbox. Keeping data on-device and off any network removes the risks that come with transmitting or storing it elsewhere.
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version on this page. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
